The Witcher 3 hidden details (Witcher 3 hidden details) are small touches with no notice board post and no journal reward. The game does not mark them on the map and most players miss them on a first run through the main story. Below are moments that tie quests, choices, or earlier scenes together. You will find specific quests and items in fun facts from the game, and active hunting without a notice board in five hidden quests in Velen.

Fun facts from the game

At the fun facts hub we have Berengar’s blade, the thrown-out bed, the figurines at Triss’s place, and more short guides to things you easily miss in the game.

Keira Metz and A Final Kindness

At the end of quests with Keira Metz in Velen you decide where she goes with Alexander’s notes. When you do not send her to Kaer Morhen and let her go to Radovid, the game does not tell you right away. Only after you return from Bald Mountain you find her body impaled on a stake on Hierarch Square in Novigrad.

Gretka returns to Crow’s Perch

In the King of Wolves flashback Ciri saves the girl Gretka (Gretka) from wolf packs and the werewolf known as the King of Wolves. The peasant takes her to Crow’s Perch and the Bloody Baron hosts them at the table. The scene looks like a closed chapter in Ciri’s story.

As Geralt at Crow’s Perch you can meet Gretka again in the baron’s chambers. There is no quest or crowns involved. The game quietly reminds you that Ciri had already done something in the region before you arrived. Without that flashback you easily miss the girl in the interior.

Tomira after Radovid’s victory

Herbalist Tomira from White Orchard heals you at the start of the game. After the war for the North ends the world changes depending on who won. When Radovid takes the throne and witch hunters rule Novigrad, in White Orchard you see Tomira harassed by guards.

You can step in and drive the guards away. When you leave the scene alone, Tomira is executed. Again no notice and no quest in the journal. Just a show that political choices reach the village where you started too. It is worth returning to White Orchard after the final preparations and walking familiar places again.

Rose of Remembrance with Triss

Rose of Remembrance (Rose of Remembrance) belongs to events from the second game and Geralt’s relationship with Triss. In Novigrad after you search her looted kitchen you find it among the rubble. Picking it up into your inventory is enough.

Vesemir and Countess Mignole

In the Hearts of Stone expansion you meet Countess Mignole at the drake estate of the Borsodi family. From dialogue it comes out that Vesemir once shared more with her than a polite dinner. The game does not lay this out as a flashback, a few lines and tone of voice are enough.

Vesemir at the HoS auction and talk about Countess Mignole

When you reach the auction before Vesemir falls in the battle for Kaer Morhen, you can talk to him about the countess. Vesemir speaks about a past off the monster trail and shows a side you do not see much in the opening of the game. After his death that dialogue is no longer available.

Gaunter O’Dimm’s mark

After you fulfill the contract with Gaunter O’Dimm (Master Mirror) a mark stays on Geralt’s face. You can ask Yennefer, Triss, Ciri, or Regis whether they can remove the mark.

None of them can help you. Yennefer and Triss explain that it is a force beyond normal magic. Ciri and Regis react more to the danger than to a solution. The game shows O’Dimm as an entity on the level of fate that you cannot solve with a sword. The mark stays through the end of the story and the epilogue.

Secret room in the royal palace

In the courtyard of the royal palace in Vizima you can use witcher senses to find a loose brick in the wall. When you press it a hidden room opens with a skeleton and a letter.

Why details matter

CD Projekt Red leaves traces in the world that reward attention and memory from earlier quests. Some you only see after dozens of hours when you return to a city and find consequences of your choices.

When you want more active hunting, try the five hidden quests in Velen or the endings overview. The overall feel of exploring the map fits what I write in the Witcher 3 review. More guides are on the game hub.
