The Witcher 3 — hidden treasure and cards in Vizima

Gwent with a nobleman in Vizima and a secret room with a letter about Princess Adda. Only after Yennefer. You can return to the palace.

Witcher 3 Vizima treasure sits in the palace garden in Vizima. The nobleman for gwent sits there only after you talk with Yennefer, not right after the audience with the emperor. You can open the secret room in the wall on the same visit, or when you return to Vizima later. Do not expect a sword or other big loot there. It is an old letter from the days of The Witcher 1.

Gwent with the nobleman

A Nilfgaardian nobleman sits on a bench in the garden only after you talk with Yennefer in the palace, not right after the audience with the emperor. He plays with a Nilfgaardian Empire deck. When you beat him, you get the leader card Foltest: The Siegemaster.

This is the only gwent player in Vizima. Here it is only about this one match. If you do not have a strong deck yet, leave him for a later return.

Next to the bench, turn on witcher senses. On the stone wall one stone glows red. Press it and beside it a narrow chamber opens, thick with cobwebs. Inside there is no big treasure like a sword or armor. You find a skeleton and an old letter.

Old letter about Adda

The letter is addressed to Sir Roderick de Wett. That is a character from the first game who plotted against King Foltest in Temeria. The writer answers his question whether the curse of Princess Adda can return. She claims the witcher from Rivia did not lift the curse for good. He only stopped it for a while.

Then she lays out how to turn Adda into a striga again. Into her food supposedly go three drops of blood from her father Foltest, three drops of wolf blood, and three drops of bile from a woman buried right after she lived to a hundred. Over that meal you cast the Triangle Within a Triangle. At the end the writer still urges Roderick to think whether he really wants this deed.

No further quest starts from it. It is a nod to The Witcher 1, hidden in the palace garden. You can do it right after Yennefer, or when you return to Vizima later. I summarize how the game holds up overall in the Witcher 3 review. More guides are on the Witcher 3 hub.
