Griffin School gear (Griffin School Gear) is a medium set for signs. You wear it from level 11. In Velen it is the first full witcher set you can realistically get in time, and every piece raises sign intensity.
Combat style
The Griffin set is medium armor and the pieces raise your sign intensity. In a fight you lean on signs and follow up with the sword more than you live on fast slashes. Quen eats the first hits, Igni burns and sets enemies on fire, Aard knocks them back or down, and Yrden slows a circle or pins down specters. The more set pieces you wear, the more it pays to put points in the Signs tree and stamina.

The set also has a steel and a silver sword with the same logic and a bonus to signs. The four armor pieces add up to around 179 armor.

The four pieces add up to 190 armor. The numbers in the table apply at NG+ start + 12. After that, armor keeps scaling. The chest gains +5 for each further Geralt level, and gloves, trousers, and boots gain +2. The full set picks up +11 armor per level.
When you start NG+ at 50 and you are at level 65, you are three levels above the table. The chest is at 110, gloves at 35, trousers and boots at 39, and the total is 223.
Where to find the diagrams
You buy the map for the basic Griffin set from the armorer in Zalipie. After you read it, scavenger hunt objectives pop up. The map is not required and you can pick up the diagrams without it.
First go to Dragonslayer’s Grotto northwest of Downwarren. Inside you find chest, gloves, trousers, and boots diagrams in a chest. An ekimmara guards the spot, so expect a fight.
Then the map sends you to Hindhold, where the steel sword diagram is. The last clue is at the Lornruk lighthouse. The silver sword is at the top and you often reach the inside through water and the cave under the tower.
