Witcher 3 Magic Lamp (Magic Lamp) is an item from Keira Metz in Velen. It lets you talk to spirits. From Keira you also get the Eye of Nehaleni (Eye of Nehaleni), which you get earlier in Wandering in the Dark and which breaks magical illusions.
Magic Lamp and Eye of Nehaleni — what is what
| Magic Lamp | Eye of Nehaleni | |
|---|---|---|
| Quest | side quest Magic Lamp (Magic Lamp) | main quest Wandering in the Dark (Wandering in the Dark) |
| What for | spirits, dialogue with wraiths | hidden walls, passages, illusions |
| How you use it | from the quick-item wheel | at an illusion you press interact (Geralt does not put it on the wheel himself) |
| When you have it | only after the statue puzzle, Keira gives you the lamp later at her place | right away in Wandering in the Dark, it stays in the inventory |
So the lamp will not reveal walls behind an illusion. The eye will not show a spirit by the tower. In the same cave with Keira you get both, but each piece has a different role.
How to get the Magic Lamp
First finish Hunting a Witch and the main quest Wandering in the Dark. Keira gives you the Eye of Nehaleni in it.
At the end of Wandering in the Dark Keira asks you to help her find the lamp an elven mage promised her. If you agree, the side quest Magic Lamp starts. If you refuse to help, the quest does not run and you will not get the lamp later.
In the room with four statues you translate the riddle on the doors. See the picture and the video, where you have the right choice. A wrong step summons wraiths, which you have to take down and try again.
Behind the doors is a shrine. Keira takes the lamp with her. On the way out you can still use the Eye of Nehaleni on the illusion by the exit. On the surface the quest Magic Lamp ends.
You get the lamp into your inventory only later from Keira while doing the quest A Towerful of Mice (A Towerful of Mice).

What the lamp is for
Turn it on from the quick-item wheel. Where a shadow hangs or the journal has a hint about a spirit, it lights up the figures and dialogues. On A Towerful of Mice without it you will not piece together what happened on the island.
The lamp only shows who you are talking to. It shines forward like a lantern, but you do not run with it as fast as with a torch.
You meet Keira on the main swamp storyline. Her whole branch including the tower and three fates is in the romance overview.
An overview of the guides is on the Witcher 3 hub. I summarize how the game holds up overall in the Witcher 3 review.
