The Witcher 3 — Lambert's death in the Battle of Kaer Morhen

Lambert can die in the Battle of Kaer Morhen if nobody saves him in the courtyard. With Keira Metz the game spares him. Without her you finish Help Lambert.

Characters

Witcher 3 Lambert death (Lambert death) only covers the main quest The Battle of Kaer Morhen. Lambert can fall there when nobody saves him in the courtyard. Eskel survives that battle, Vesemir always dies.

Lambert, Eskel and Vesemir defend the fortress together with Geralt and Ciri. Keira Metz only arrives when you send her to Kaer Morhen before the Isle of Mists in the quest For the Advancement of Learning.

Where death threatens

The scene comes mid-battle, when the Hunt surrounds Lambert on the grass by the castle walls. You hear the line “Lambert, don’t play the hero!” and the game shows you he is trapped.

Keira at the battle

When Keira stands on your side, she goes down to Lambert herself and you do not deal with the rescue objective. After the battle they ride off together and you can see their romance in the game.

When Keira is missing

Without Keira, the objective Help Lambert defeat the Hunt’s warriors appears in the journal. You have to jump down from the battlements as soon as you can and kill the attackers around Lambert before they take him.

After the battle

Vesemir dies after the duel with Imlerith in every playthrough. Lambert survives only when Keira or you save him in that courtyard scene. When he falls, you see his body at the funeral next to Vesemir. Eskel then continues in the story as a living witcher.

Where next

I summarize the whole defense in The Battle of Kaer Morhen. I describe how to send Keira to the fortress instead of to Radovid in Keira Metz fate. Eskel’s duel with Caranthir has its own guide, and after the battle comes the funeral at Kaer Morhen. Context for the whole game is in the Witcher 3 review and more quests on the game hub.
