The Witcher 3 — Ronvid of the Small Marsh

Witcher 3 Ronvid is that knight who challenges you to a duel three times for the honor of his lady. The series is called Face Me if You Dare! and his chosen one Maid Bilberry. In the journal it often has no line of its own with objectives, but on the map a yellow exclamation mark shows up at the first spot. It belongs among the scenes with no notice board, same as hidden quests in Velen.

Ronvid swore he would defeat a hundred knights for that lady. He picked Geralt as the first, whatever you say. After two defeats he finds out you are a witcher, and for the third round he brings hired thugs.

Near Crow’s Perch

The first meeting is in Velen, at the crossroads by the bridge to Crow’s Perch, the seat of the Bloody Baron. He stands in a blue gambeson, has a sword and more confidence than skill. You cannot refuse the duel. A few hits are enough and he yields, then he runs off and promises this is not over yet. When you are at the castle for a contract, the Shrieker is often nearby too.

Near Tretogor Gate

A few days later you meet him again by Novigrad, southeast of the Tretogor Gate signpost, by the Pontar river. This time he has a shield and a bit more armor. He pulls you into a duel again. He yields again as soon as you take enough of his health. Then he disappears from the road a second time.

In Silverton

The third and last meeting is inside Novigrad, in the Silverton district, northwest of the inn The Golden Sturgeon, by a small market. This time he already knows you are a witcher. He stands with two hired thugs and wants payback.

When you have Axii at the second level in the dialogue, you can send them home and Ronvid survives. Without that (or when you accept the fight) it is a fight to the death. After he dies you find a letter about that lady on him and that is how this series ends.

Closing

Ronvid is not the main line or a notice board contract. It is a short story you can walk through on the way from Velen to Novigrad. More small bits with no journal reward are in the hidden details.
