The skill tree fills slowly at the start, so grab these points right away so you have something to build Quen or Yrden from.

Map

On the map above the places of power are marked. One stone stands by the Nilfgaardian garrison. Two sit by the mill and in the forest above it. One lies in the forest by the Mourning Bridge. Two stand in the south by the abandoned village and the ruined bridge. The southern stone lies close to a griffin nest. Take the stone, but do not go through the nest until a contract sends you there. At the stone hold the button until the point appears. When you do not have them on the map yet, the notice board at the Mourning Bridge marks them with question marks.
