The Witcher 3 — Triss's earring

Witcher 3 Triss earring (witcher 3 triss earring) is a quest item by the thrown bed in the courtyard of Kaer Morhen. Yennefer threw the bed out the window over Geralt’s night with Triss, and one earring stayed in the wreckage. You pick it up in the pile on the grass and later you can return it to Triss in Novigrad.

Where the earring lies

Go to the courtyard north of the main gate of the keep, where the thrown bed lies by the wall. Walk up to the wreckage and click the interaction. Geralt bends down and finds the earring in the grass by the mattress. Witcher senses do not glow on it like a classic chest, so look for the spot with your eyes by the broken frame and white bedding.

You can grab it right after you arrive with Uma, or come back to the bed later on other visits to the valley. It does not change the main story whether you take the earring right away or only after the Disturbance quest.

What is in the inventory

The item is called Triss’s earring and sits in the quest items tab. The description says it is an item needed to finish a quest, but no separate quest starts from it. The earring stays in the inventory until you return it to Triss, or leave it lying by the wreckage.

When to return it to Triss

After the Battle of Kaer Morhen Triss stays upstairs at the Rosemary and Thyme inn by Glory Gate, in Dandelion and Zoltan Chivay’s place. After the Cabaret quest the inn is called Chameleon, and the room upstairs stays the same. Find her there, talk to her, and in the dialog choose to return the earring. It works even without a romance with Triss, and it does not affect your relationship with Yennefer.

After you return it Triss has both earrings and wears them in later scenes. When you are romancing her, the detail fits her look in Novigrad and in the epilogue. When you skip romance, it is still a nice beat for the character from Pyres of Novigrad.
