Witcher 3 Where the Cat and Wolf Play (Where the Cat and Wolf Play) is free DLC in Velen. You start with a contract on the notice board, reach the dead village of Honorton, and at the end you face Gaetan, a School of the Cat witcher. When you let him go, the second quest Take What You Want (Take What You Want) opens and his stash with the steel sword Teigr.
Where the quest starts
On the notice board in Crow’s Perch (or in Oreton) take Contract: The Beast of Honorton. Then ride south to Honorton. As soon as you enter the village, the contract turns into Where the Cat and Wolf Play. Recommended level is around twenty-five.
Honorton
The village is empty. Between the houses run alghouls and other necrophages. Search the cottages, the barn, and the tracks. You run into a surviving girl. Give her a doll, or use Axii, so she tells you who killed the village. The trail leads you to a stone circle and then along the blood to the witcher.
Gaetan
Gaetan belongs to the School of the Cat. After the contract the villagers wanted to cheat him and kill him. He slaughtered them all and spared the girl because she reminded him of his sister. You can attack him right away, or hear him out first and only then decide.
When you choose the fight, he asks for an elixir and immediately blinds you with a bomb. Stick to blocking and signs. Long attack combos are more likely to make him cast Quen. A dimeritium bomb drops that shield. From the body you loot his sword, but you will not get the second quest.
When you let him leave, you skip the fight and Gaetan tells you where the stash is. The quest Take What You Want only shows up after you finish Honorton.
Either way, go back to the girl. You take her to her aunt in Lindenvale. You can give the aunt around forty crowns. You get nothing for it, just XP and closing the quest.
Take What You Want
The quest only counts when Gaetan is alive. From Midcopse go southwest to the tree with the stash (the area north of Keira Metz’s hut). Three bandits stand at the entrance. Kill them, climb down, and open the chest.
Inside are crowns, a letter to Gaetan, and the steel sword Teigr. The sword’s level scales to your level at the moment you open the chest. If you kill Gaetan, you still find the stash, but the valuables in it will already be gone.
